Nope. It was McCain's. They're about to talk about it on CNBC.
I'm sure the guy that really thought of it will never be known.... McCain just does what he's told anyway, since he said he doen't know that much about the economy, lol.

There was a time when I thought Hill might actually have a chance, but it appears now she is just trying to not look like a compulsive liar. Nobody will cut Obama and slack for his preacher's comments. And McCain already said he doesn't know what he's doing and he's so old n sickly looking..... Hardly makes me want to RUN to the polls for anything.

Yeah I don't really like any of the candidates but I think it is almost the lesser of all evils at this point. Hopefully McCain will get a good Vice to run with him and that will be the only hope I think.

Yup.... Someone that is not in danger of alzheimers anytime soon. (I shouldn't be that way. )
Actually, I wanted to see Ron Paul in there. But that was just wishful thinking on my part.

Also interesting that the US/Canadian exchange rate is about 1 for 1. That hasn't happened since the 70's either. http://research.stlouisfed.org...series/DEXCAUS?cid=283
It has'nt changed much in prices up here.Just for comparison;
'08 250 Raptor Canada $5,699
US $3,999

Back in 2004 it would have cost you $1.40 to buy 1 US dollar. So a $4000 (US) quad would cost you $5600 (1.4 x 4000).
Today, its 1 to 1 so it should only cost you $4000 Canadian. Might be worth to gas to be an importer, lol.
But according to the Fed http://www.minneapolisfed.org/Research/data/us/calc/ a quad that costs $4000 US today, would cost $3505 in 2004. I believe that's an under-estimation though. But if you believe the Fed then $1.4 x $3505 = $4907 Canadian.
Interesting that a $4000 quad today would have only cost $2425 in 1990. If they had quads in 1950 it would have cost you $450 to buy one. $184 in 1913.

Usually the company buys the fuel. Except for owner-operators. My buddy is a trucker for a carpet mill. I'd say this is probably one of his better years for income (he's buying all kinds of stuff anyway. ).

here in NY we have a 34-cent tax on each gallon so right now regular is running about $3.57 a gallon......... I saw one place in Syracuse that was $3.43 and two miles down the road it was $3.67 ....... I've never in my life seen such disparity and quick jumps/drops in price that we are seeing now..... it's all so F'ed up that I don't even bother looking at the prices anymore.......
Shelling out for 91 octane for high compression engines is hard to swallow ...... I've seen it as high as $4.11 ...... I remember when Cam-2 was $2.01 and people were pissed...

It was McCain's idea, but who cares. It is too little, too late. We better stop thinking oil and start thinking about hydrogen. Oil is finite and Hydrogen is infinite

I'm not sure how I feel about having a tank full of, not only highly flamable gas, but also gas under pretty high pressure. I can't even keep my air tools from leaking and somehow a car is gonna last 10 yrs and never spring a leak??? We can't use a cell phone while pumping regular gasoline, what's going happen when we wear wool with hydrogen fumes floating around everywhere?
I don't have a better idea, but I don't want to jump from the pot to the fire either, lol.

gas prices may be a pain in the butt, but overall it's not that big of a deal except to people that like motorized recreation.
It's the cost of diesel that is hurting everyone. That's what drives the price of everything else you buy up. Between trains and trucks, if you buy it, it has an associated cost in diesel fuel.
Over the road truckers are losing their asses now because of the cost of fuel. All my friends own dump trucks and whether they pay the bills at the end of the month or not may depend on how long of a haul they've been making, whether they lose a tire or not.
The higher cost of gasoline doesn't effect me nearly as much as my grocery bill- all of which is skyrocketing due to shipping costs. And I can control my gas consumption to a degree, whereas I have to buy groceries and feed my family.
Diesel used to be the low cost alternative to gas. Now it's more expensive by far- and yet is far more vital to our economy than gasoline is.
While the people were complaining about filling up their big suv's, no one said much about diesel. Now it's hurting everyone. I'd stop complaining about gas if they'd just drop the price of diesel to at least equal, or lower than gas per gallon.

Food is up regardless of fuel. Yeah, fuel may have a little to do with it in running tractors n trucks. But everything that is tangible is up. Steel, coal, oil, aluminum, rice, wheat, corn, yada yada, etc.... Everything. Have a look: http://www2.barchart.com/mktco...de=BSTK§ion=grains Press "C" under links and then press "monthly". Then check out metals, softs, energies, and meats. They're all up.
1) speculators are running the prices up on the futures market.
2) the dollar and all the world's currencies are weak because the world banks are pumping money into their economies because nobody wants the good times to end.
3) China and India are developing too fast and using up all the commodities. They went from a 3rd world country to talking on cell phones in a generation. It took the US a couple centuries to do that.
4) Food prices have been affected by last year's drought in some places.
There are lots of reasons why.... But the fact that everything happened all at once is what makes this so remarkable.

This morning it was announced on the radio that gas prices could go as high as $7 a gallon with crude oil exceeding $200 a barrel within the next 3 years. I think it's time to start stocking up on food, ammo and fuel.

Put 50 dollars in my Ranger last night, didn't even fill it up. I can remember when I bought it, it was less than 20 bucks. (20 gallon tank)
At 3.57 a gallon (so far) I can't wait to see what the 28 gallon tank on the wifes truck will cost.
