Season opener at Hemond's MX in Minot, Maine on tap for Can-Am RMR Series, Presented by the New England Dodge Dealers

HAMPSTEAD, NH (May 14, 2007) - All over the northeast, ATV racers are tweaking and tuning their machines to prepare for the new season. Officials from Rock Maple Racing (RMR) are also busy making their own preparations for Round 1 of the 10-race 2007 Can-Am series schedule, set for Sunday, May 20, at Hemond's MX in Minot, Maine.
Spectator gates will open at 8 a.m., and racing will get under way promptly at 9 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 10, while children age 5 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.
The day's program will begin with qualifying action for all classes. These qualifying races allow riders to learn quick lines around the challenging track. It all builds to an exciting climax at roughly 1 p.m. as Finals for all classes begin. Riders from around the northeast will be gunning for trophies and bragging rights as another action-packed season gets under way.
RMR recently announced the signing of a three-race TV package for the Can-Am series in 2007. A crew from Dan Egan's Wild World of Summer, seen every Saturday on New England Cable News (NECN) will be in Minot to catch the action. This is an exciting opportunity for our race teams, their sponsors and the series to reach consumers across a broad geographic area.
Riders who are looking for a pre-race practice session will be thrilled to know that all tracks, including Hemond's, will offer Saturday practice sessions for just $25 per day. This gives racers a chance to shake down their machines and prepare for the next day's competition. ATV racers will also be happy to know that several tracks on the circuit will allow RMR to slightly reconfigure parts of their tracks to make them more Quad-friendly. Just another part of the ongoing effort to make the Can-Am RMR series a cut above the rest.
Hemond's MX is a world-class motocross facility with a reputation for great racing. Run by the hard-working Hemond family, the track has been expanded in recent years to become one of the premier race courses in New England. Hemond's hosts several Maine Motocross Series events during the season, along with a few larger New England Sports Committee (NESC) events. All over the northeast, racers are talking about how nice the track and facility in general is at Hemond's. The family has poured its heart and soul into the track, and it shows.
The track is located on Woodman Hill Road. To get to the track, take Exit 75 (Auburn) off the Maine Turnpike. At the base of the off-ramp, take a left onto Rte. 100. Proceed four miles north to Roy's All-Steak Hamburgers, then take Rte. 121 west (Minot Ave.) for 5.5 miles. Turn right onto Rte. 119, proceed just over three miles to Hemond's MX facility on your right.
The Can-Am RMR Series, presented by the New England Dodge Dealers, is preparing for what promises to be an exciting first full season. New contingency programs for 2007 will see valuable items like Sunoco Racing Fuel and Scott goggles given to eligible riders. Several of the fine associate sponsors involved with RMR are participating this year, helping racers lower costs as the season unfolds.
Rock Maple Racing is the eastern affiliate of the World Powersports Association (WPSA), the national sanctioning body for ATV racing. For more information, please visit us at www.rockmaple.com.
