What do you think of being able to run your atv or utv on say a gravel road or even across town to work?
The reason for this post is I have a 20 year old son with disabilities. He would love to ride with me but cannot operate a motorcycle. Why not an atv or utv?

If it is fully road legel in some state you can get it inspected and tag it. Gas Gas atvs come with all the stuff.

I'm all for it.If they can let these little kids ride these scooters on the road then I see no problems with atvs.

I could see riding on gravel roads but ATVs are not made for asphalt you should have a limited slip differential

They are a good out fit ,but they do follow the lines of age recommendation , but last time I talked to my region rep they were looking at a way to work around that .

hey Deanz,
My kids did the ASI training class and I thought it was all right but kind of short.
Have you seen the SVIA position letter on ATV's and roads?
I called them after seeing it to confirm a couple of things I thought were an issue. The big one was riding on gravel roads. Some of the trail systems I?ve ridden in Minnesota and Wisconsin include miles of publicly traveled gravel roads and they told me they are dead against any roads being used of any kind.
I was pretty upset after talking to the gal at SVIA, she told me they wanted North and South Dakota, Arizona, Idaho, Ohio, and all the states that even allow limited road access to overturn their present laws.

It was about 4 hours. Didn't know what to expect when the boy's did the class. The youngest was 17 when he took it. It's required here in Iowa to ride the state ATV parks if your under 18.
SVIA is almost an anti-atv group now. They need redirection and should stop the scare tactics to advance their private self profiting agenda. I've been after the manufactures since they fund SVIA to review how SVIA presents ATV perspectives to both state and federal agengies with half-truths and outright misleading statements.

You never did say if you were an ASI instructor

My bad yea I've been an instructor for about 7 years ,

I guess I don't emersed in the politics of the SVIA ,
I just like to teach the training part ,
It's a good feeling seeing a rookie come in and learn new skills and leave more confident in their ability .
