ya if you can get on both quads that is going to be the best way to decide. just like i bought a 700 raptor over the 450s. does not take anything away from the 450s they are great quads just not suited for my riding. with eather of these quads your going to have a great time and be fast.

If you have ever been on a DS you would know that they soak up the whoops real well they have great suspension. But again don't take my word for it. Test them both out and see what you like.

I have both and if I could get my money back for what I have put into my DS730 I would get one more Outlaw 525

That is great. Everyone will have different opinions that is why I suggested that he ride them both before he makes his decision. Everyone likes different things. I don't own the Outlaw but I have ridden it and would love it out on trails but not on the dunes but this is a personal preference. No arguing it is a nice bike just prefer the DS in the dunes is all.

how does the outlaw compare to the DS730 tho, ive been doing alot of reasearch, Im trying to build a 4stroke duner with extreme dragging ability. I have seen alot of DS that are outrageous while the costs are waaaay more they seem to be an amazing choice, other than price of mods.

I personally haven't ridden the DS and knowone I know has one but I love my outlaw anywhere including technical trails or the dunes. The power is amazing even stock and with the stock Maxis Razors it chews up anywhere, trails and even steep sand hills. No regrets on the purchase and I recomend the outlaw 525 to anyone.

The KTM 525 and Outlaw 525S are both out in limited supply, both use the same engine, both can be built up to 600 cc. the KTM is lighter cost more and has better shocks and brakes, My Outlaw 525 IRS is now a 540 and I will be taking it out this weekend for a break in ride. As a 525 it would pull the same gears up hill as my DS730 did.

I would also add that it depends on your age and riding habits I am 51 and ride with the 20 and 30 year olds we ride hard and my outlaw 06 allows me to keep up and still save my back on the jumps. I would not trade my outlaw for anything. Oh and i have also riddin the 07 525 and they seem to me to be identical in power.

new ride seem to always get the attention, so aftermarket parts will start to lean toward the 525, but how soon they will catch the ds is unknown

Moto Headz Racing just dynoed his 610 kit for the KTM RFS engine with stock pipe and stock filter and it put down 58 hp at 7600 rpm and 48 ft lbs at 5200. It also made over 50 hp from 5400-9400 rpm. This was on PUMP gas. He is making another 610 to run off of race gas and is expecting high 60's on that build.

see 60's and a lot less weight than the ds, look at whipping some 450 class leaders

But when you're out on the dunes in a DS650 Baja, the weight is barely noticeable, the suspension is perfect for the weight and mannerisms of the DS650, I think the Baja model was a way of Can-Am showing that they could take the heaviest sport quad and make it handle like one that is 100lbs lighter, and 20hp more powerful, I wonder if the Outlaw 525S will be able to make me a fan as quickly as the DS650 Baja did, oh and the Outlaw 525 IRS is obviously not built for the dunes, you find that out when you ride it

Well I own both and now have considerable seat time on both. My plan was to replace the DS with the Outlaw525. After much thought, I have decided to keep my DS as my duner and the Outlaw as my daily rider. The Outlaw 525 is an amazingly fast open desert ride and trail quad for all the mentioned reasons. It has better hook up on the dunes than all the straight axle quads I have ridden/owned and is faster than my DS650 (see mods) on comp hills due to traction and weight but not much. That being said, I enjoy the DS too much on the dunes to sell it. It is more stable in whoops, transitions and steep downhills. They are both awesome machines and it really depends on your riding style and ability.

Hey I agree with you all the way! And good name there, I share the same one.
I do have to chuckle a little about you're sig though. Poooolaris is definatly not the most reliable. I'm not trying to be rude, I just think that is a Bold statement about polaris comparing them to Can Am, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawi, and KTM. The most reliable Poo yet is the KTM powered ones.
