Some 450R's will hand your head to you, some you will beat. "Modded 450R" is a bit open-ended.

the 450r will get ya out of the hole because of torque then just depends on mods of the 450r from there. I have seen a 520 banshee and a 520r run choke cherry dead nuts!!

Banshee.... if they are jetted right, and have good pipes I would take them over any 450.

Hey too tell ya pipe and filters will not help a banshee like they do a 450r! Evenly modded banshee vs 450r with bolt ons the 450 will take it!!

Actually pipes make more difference on a two stroke then a four stroke. Pipes make the ride on banshees.

lemme just tell you this. ive made probly 15 trips to imperial valley dunes this year and the 450r's got you. but at the same time it depends on the rider. but equal rider hes got you but i couldnt say for sure bc of the rider and you didnt list mods on the r.

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in here from some actual experience. I have an 03 banshee with V-force reeds, FMF Gold series pipes and K&N with jets. My 05 TRX450r has Big Gun pipe K&N filter and jetted.
My little brother rides my shee when we go out and we race up hills a lot. In my experience, the shee will win if it's a short hill climb but on a longer climb, the 450R has too much torque and can hold speed up hill much better, the shee just doesn't want to pull up hill in the higher gears. This is racing on the sand at Winchester Bay by the way. Don't have experience dragging on the dirt.
From my experience riding both bikes and racing plenty on both, my preference for straightaways or small climbs would be the shee just for it's sheer speed factor. On steep or long climbs the 450R will come out on top. If the banshee is built well it should win.
