Hello,

New to the ATV world. Drove my buddies Raptor 660 the other day. Man, very quick and love it. The problem is, I really want a 4x4 but would love to have the power the 660 has. I'm looking at a 07 Polaris Scrambler 500. I'm not sure I can even compare the Raptor VS the Scrambler. Although the Scrambler is fairly quick. Do I need a 4 wheel drive, I guess not. Is there something maybe in between? Any help. No experience here. I'm willing to spend up to 4K. Any good all around quad?

Thanks

One quad to take a look at in this price catagory might be a Yamaha Wolverine. I cannot answer if it is faster than a Scrambler but it does give you another machine to look for that you can find in your price range!

They are not faster than a Scrambler, not even the 450 Wolverine. For the record, except in the deep mud and snow, a sport quad will go just about anywhere a 4x4 will. You may need to use a bit more speed/strategy/and even skill, but they WILL do it. The Scrambler is your best bet probably for a sporty, fast 4x4 under 4K. There really isn't anything that is halfway and decent. IMHO, a 2x4 ute won't handle as well as a sport, and it has the same deep mud/snow limitations. Personally, I prefer sport quads, but since it is your money, you really need to do the sole searching as to how you plan to ride and use the atv.

Thanks for the replies.

I think I might just buy my cousin's Raptor. It's an 02 -660 and he would sell it to me for $2500. I'm also looking at an 05 Scrambler as well. I think I might be leaning more towards the 660. People are now telling me that Polaris isn't the way to go. Too unreliable. I don't know. Very tough decision
