Decided to buy atvs for the family. Wanted to have something outdoors that all age groups could enjoy. Wife, son age 14, daughter age 9 and me. They had no problems diciding on what they wanted. Me on other had really like the 700 Raptor. Most of the riding we will be doing is going to be trail rides on the weekend, my son and I will hanging with the girls but will also be getting some airtime when we can. 90% of our riding will be trail rides some tuff some not so tuff. So the question is should i get utiltity 4x4 sport 4x4 (like the wolverine) or will the 700 raptor be ok.

thanks in advance for the help

if your going to ride in mud or plow snow or stuff like that. then a 4x4 is a good choice.if it's just for play and trail rides any 2x4 would do. the hard part will be picking the quads you want

Sounds like you need a "hybrid" machine! I have been saying this for years.....most folks don't need a farm work tractor utility, and will benefit from more "sporty" handling, yet would also like to have the backup of 4wd just in case they get into trouble out on the trail.

The OLD Wolverine comes closer to this hybrid machine than anything else that has ever been produced! Unfortunately, the NEW Wolverine got to many utility characteristics added to it....like a foo foo automatic transmission....

Also, have you looked at the new Honda 700XX which has IRS and high ground clearance, yet has a manual transmission? I see this machine's special niche as being rough rocky trails, and rutted eastern race courses where folks can take advantage of IRS, yet don't quite need 4wd. Lots of reviews on this new machine out there, if you are interested.

From what I saw and read not many of the testers were impressed at all with the "new Honda 700xx". Sounds like you want a sport quad so that's what you should get. The Raptor is a great choice.

Thing is, they tested it at Dumont Dunes, which is not where a machine like this is going to excell...so the mediocre media revews don't surprise me! Believe me, I don't see myself ever owning one, but for a sporty ride on semi-technical trails, it might be the ticket??? (Just for the record, there are a few actual owner reviews out there that are surprisingly good!)
