hi, i am relatively new to this and am thinking about buying an ATV. i've started to do some research and wonder if i could get people's thoughts on the importance of shocks. i am an avid mountain biker and so know how important the suspension in on a mountain bike, but wonder if it is as important when it comes to ATVs. i know that you can only get showa shocks with honda and KYB shocks with yamaha, but if i get a kawasaki or suzuki how much choice do i have, and does it even matter? i was talking to a guy who told me that i should get FOX shocks in the aftermarket - anyone have experience with this? thanks.

well if yo uhave the money i would suggest elka or ohlins shocks, fox shocks are good.. but they are just an airshock.. good adjustability and tuneability for different conditions, i don't have much expereince with them though. and have never priced them

fox shocks are quite expensive- but you can only get them for the 450s i think-(unless you want the cheap floats)

they are also expensive 1500 for the fox float X evol with DSC

just go to foxracingshox.com, you'll be impressed, they look really nice, and shave a few pounds of your quad

speedy, why do you say they are "just an airshock" ??? arent they one of the best? doug gust and the other suzuki guy run them.... what does bill balance run? are there any draw backs for airshocks- i think it would be better because there are no springs to fatigue and lose strength on, and you dont have to buy expensive springs (i've seen titanium springs for 600$$) when you want to change the tension by a significant amount, all you have to do it hook up an air compressor or a little pump that they give you
