Wow!
That is a strange one
I looked in my manual this is a shaft drive with a ring and pinion
But it still apears to be a live axle
If you jack the rear of the trike up and spin the axle is there any grinding
Or can you jack rear up and turn both rear wheels different directions
If so this would indicate striped splines
But from what I can see in the manual the only place this could happem is at the wheel
Good luck
Ray
