Well I made some progress on my 1983 185s. I added 200x Wheels, repainted 200x hubs and a new set of ITP Mud Lites. I added a jug from a 200x that`s 25 over, Only needed honed so I honed it to specs and had it planed to be assure of flatness. Used a Honda 200x piston and rings, used the 185 head that I had reworked with new vesrah valves with a back cut, new valve guides and seals, had the head planed. Added a HiPo cam that`s not a lot bigger than stock coated with moly lube with new cam bearing and thrust washer from honda, Reused the timing chain as it had been replaced prior to me buying the wheeler, I coated it in moly lube also. I reused the carb that was on it, added a 102 jet and a new Uni Air filter. The mechanical advance on the spark timing I disassembled and polished, lubed and reassembled.
My nephew came up yesterday and assembled it, We got it fired off after a few pulls, then we broke in the cam for 20 minutes using STP oil treatment and GTX oil, changed the oil afterwards and he reset the valves and I adjusted the idle mixture. He used my timing light to set the spark timing then he took it for a test ride and the results are fantastic. It runs strong and pulls hard, my nephew is much like me build wise, he weights 230 and is 6`3, and it pulled the front wheel with ease in the first three shifts. I can`t ride it, as I have back surgury on monday and won`t be able to ride again for another year, but that will give me time to finish the fenders, and paint over the awful camo job someone did on it before I had it. New rear bearings are also in the works along with a new chain. I had the seat recovered by a friend of mine, with black on the sides and red on the top with a tuck and roll diamond pattern. Also wanted to say thanks again to KNOWSALOT for his help and information.
