thanks, edkatt

I just put on the sprocket and the shaved head and this thing rips!!!! I know it's still not as fast as some of the DRR's but it's moving now...
I also change the main jet from 7.2 to the 8.0....

1)Nobody said anything about having to cut the little metal bracket on the rear swing arm that holds the chain guard in place, the 48t sprocket will hit it if not cut or shaved down...

2) After put the shaved head .015 nobody told me about doing a valve adjust, I do bolt-ons I thought it was going to be hard but super easy, just didn't know it had to be done...

All n all the bike is running really hard and I can't wait to take my daughter back to the track on 5/18 so u guys can see this thing rip!!!!!!!!

For you guys that shaved the head are you having to run a mix of race gas and pump or can you get by on 91 octane?

A higher octane rating will not automatically add power. If you are not experiencing pre-ignition then you do not need a higher octane rating. You will be wasting money if the bike isn't pinging.

In cars with knock sensors a higher octane rating might cause the computer to advance the timing a little more, which results in slightly better performance. (The car's computer will advance the timing until it detects a knock.) I'm certain that these bikes don't have knock sensors.

So is there some way to advance the timing on these machines?

Our 48 tooth sprocket arrived this evening.

Really racing gas isn't that much more now adays. I run a 50/50 mix in all my bikes of 87 and 110 racing fuel,.mainly for the smell
87= $3.79
110=$5.99

I picked my son up from pre-school today and we installed the new 48 tooth sprocket. The bike definitely has more pulling power but I'd still like a little more. There are still slopes that are safe for my son to drive straight up and down on that the bike will not start on under it's own power. If it's moving even a little there is no problem. I have to say they are pretty steep slopes. We have an area that has gullies with 24" climb outs. I want the bike to be able to nose up to them and power up and out. We're almost there. I might pull three rollers this afternoon.

Here's some pictures of the 37 tooth, the 43 tooth and the 48 tooth laying in a stack for comparison. There's also a photo of the ground clearance with the 48 tooth installed. And a few others of my kid wrenching on his bike. That's what it's really all about!

You will actually make less power running more octane than you need. Remember the higher the octane the slower the burn. Race gas is designed to avoid detonation, not make more power by itself. EagerJeeper is right in that you only need to run enough octane as to not have any signs of detonation. Any octane above that your not only throwing away $$ but your probably loosing power.

I know this a little off topic but since there are a lot of LTZ50 owners here I have to ask.... Has anyone installed a headlight and/or tail light on one of these?

There's nothing like seeing your kid smile from ear to ear....
Nice pix

I thought about running a light in there but been kinda lazy I guess,.... that would have been so kool though if it came like that' I thought it did at first... if you decide to do it now I would suggest running it on a separate switch so that it's not on all the time...
