Hey guys I want to put a front rack on my 06 sportsman 500efi and I was just at the dealer and he looked and said they aren't available for my machine.

Do any of you guys have them or even add one? I have seen them on ebay but worry about quality?

Let me know if he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Thanks
Matt

I bought a sEt off ebay the other day. They arrived fast and look good. Seems a quality product. Paid $87 and shipping. The 05 Thru 08 are the same according to the part numbers. I went with black wrinkle for an 08 SP500 EFI.

Are you talking rack, or rack extender (the raised metal tubing). Either way your dealer must have his head up somewhere.
Here is the rack extender from Polaris

Thanks guys I don't like dealing with this local dealer but the next closest dealer is an hour away. I can't believe how bad they are.

Thanks very much for the part number link I will call them about that.

Rjh do you think that the back rack extender will fit with a two up box installed on my machine? I have a kimpex seat installed on mine. Thats does seem like a good deal on ebay but only if I use the rear rack extender.

Thanks alot guys!

Mat

The black front rack extender is $69.99 at your local dealer and you don't have to pay an extra $24 shipping. That's $41 cheaper than a combo you probably can't use. I have a generic 8" extension from shadetree powersports. It usually takes about two days to get my orders from them.

If I use a short extension on the back my cooler tips over and dumps ice water into my crack. I don't use a front rack extension but if I did I would probably buy from the dealer to avoid shipping.

Hey JumboFrank I live in Canada so the front rack extender is $99.99 so I was just thinking for a few bucks more I could also get the rear rack. But with my kimpex two up seat box I wasn't sure if it would fit.

Ebay has great deals on accessories for your Sportsman - racks included. Even with shipping it is usually way less then Polaris retail.

If you don't need OEM parts you can try these guys. My buddy bought two for his quads and they went on with a little extra work ( one fit perfect, the other needed a little muscle to fit). They are cheap but made well.

Installed the rack extensions last night - Back went on perfect - Front took a little effort. Looks really well made, I'm very pleased. Now I need to install the brush gaurd.....
