Paid $3.49 this morning...One other reason for this price surge that is getting overlooked is looking you in the mirror if you are vested in most any investment fund! The weakening dollar is pushing fund managers and investors in general to move money into natural resourses and oil futures funds where they know they are protected from the collapsing dollar and get high returns to boot! The more cash moving into these funds, the higher crude prices go, the higher the crude futures go and guess what, when added to world wide demand, you get $3.50 gas!

Ccolt brings up an interesting point that also contributes to the high cost of fuel. There are more blends of gasoline than reg, mid, and high test. Many states mandate additives that other states don't. The result is that there are dozens of blends (last count I saw was over 50 if I remember) that the oil companies have to refine. The more different blends there are the more cost for the fuel companies, the more cost gets passed down to us. To add to this our idiot politicians start talking about "taxing" the oil companies more. The trouble is it will always be paid by the consumer, no matter what you are selling. I've been driving my wife's old Honda Accord because it gets 25 mpg instead of the dismal 12 my truck gets. But, the Honda can't carry a 1/2 cord of wet firewood and tow two quads at the same time.

I wanted to do that when gas was half as much, just for fun. I love my Sportsman and my Silverado.

According to michigangasprices.com, it's anwhere from $3.57 to $3.89 in my city in the last 4 hours. It's usually 5-10 cents higher for me, than for my mom, 10 miles away on the other side of town.

tuesday or yesterday cant remember went from $3.499 to 3.539 when i went home from lunch, on the way back to work it said $3.599 and thats where its at at the moment but i look for it to sky rocket over the weekend to catch up to oil price rise.
i just read that OPEC leaders believe that oil price will rise and should be at $200 a barell. with those resulting gas prices ill have to sell the truck and the sportsman. it just ticks me off. oh well what can you do.
lets go $6 or $7 a gal and be more than half of what i make per hour to work. WooHoo
