I would like to see power steering on the polaris, I will trade in the 07 to have it! Power steering will absorb the shock if you hit something in the trail ie. small stumps, roots, rocks. At low speed these will jerk the handle bars out of your hands w/o power steer! Been there done that and rolled the quad
My 2 cents!

i agree with no power steering - are these cars or quads???????????? back in the day when 4x4 quads took a gorrilla to steer these things was something different but they arent like that any more. whats next air bags??????

Digital coded readouts telling you when to change your oil and when to add gas was abit over the top for me. I never even though steering a quad was a chore.

I hope so. Getting tired of getting excided about a new machine coming out and then nothing. So lets get it in to gear POLARIS!!

I'm with you gunsmoke. My ATV is fine the way it is.
I beat the $hit out of her and vice versa, but I ride hard and never had any complaints about how she steers.
power steering...phfff, If I need power steering, I must be too old to ride.
Last I knew you RODE a four wheeler, you didnt DRIVE it.
I guess I can understand why some would want it. I think its unnecessary tho.

From different things I have been hearing and reading, I do think we're gonna probably see an early release 09' from Polaris soon. Daryl Rath is racing sportsmans in the WPSA QTC class. He raced the Pro-stock class which is like the 650-700cc class. Currently, the only sportsman offered in that class is the 700 X2, which weighs something like 800+lbs dry, way too heavy to be raced. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Sportsman on a new chassis released early this spring, to build hype for the complete new model year release in late July. Just my .02.

I too believe you will see something before the 1st WSPA race as this is a 700cc class. But it will have to be in production before it can be raced, so could be a early release just like the RZR of last year.

From something I read on TheVMC.com, try the website 1st or 2nd week of February. There might be something then. Supposedly, Victory's unveiling a new model starting w/a teaser on the website Feb. 1, and showing the whole bike on Feb. 7. Maybe Polaris will unveil a new quad then, also.

I think Polaris was after the most powerful 400 Utitity crown, and a 455cc 400 is a good why to do it. LOL

It doesn't follow their normal numbers fudging liek calling a 760 an 800.
I can understand calling a 796 an 800 or a 492 a 500 but where is the limit? It's just deceptive to call a 760 an 800. It isn't just a Polaris problem. Arctic Cat calls their new 950 a 1000. 10-20+ cc discrepancies are strait up lying. Just call them what they are.

Just got some seat time on a Griz 700 with power steering. Crossed a chisel plowed field at a 45 degree angle...on a side hill...with almost no feedback thru the bars. Simple one-handed riding...I liked it. Is it necessary??...Heck no. Is it practical??...Heck yes. Especially since I live in hilly country and my primary riding is technical rock crawling. The system, if reliable, would pay for itself in a heartbeat...but first it has to earn its stripes. Told my Griz owning friend I'd let him beat the crap out the system for a year or two (trust me, he will) before I'd consider buying one. System endurance will be the deciding factor.
IMO, Polaris has other issues to address before this tho...like a competent EBS system. I'm a little out of date, but if ADC isn't standard across the Sportsman line yet, it dang well should be. That is priority one. The two-wheel system has made me kiss more than one tree on steep descents. Next I'd like to see the power output of the 800 match that of the Kawa or CanAm. Right now she works hard to outpace the 700 Griz. What happens when Yama drops an 800??...We'll be stuck sitting at the kiddy table with Honda! Third, I'd like to see a slight diet. Personally, I've never liked a 600lb quad...but Polaris should be able to hit the 700lb range easy enough. This would help the power-to-weight ratio as well. Lastly, Polaris should invest in EPS. The idea has great merit.
Bottomline...Polaris has a lot of work it could be doing. Let's hope they are. We've all seen what happens when a company quits trying (Honda). That Griz is a very functional crawler with a lot of other Polaris-like qualities...It's looking pretty tempting...

Compared to my '97 Sportsman we DO have powersteering. I can park in the driveway and turn the bars back and forth on the newer ones, but it wouldn't budge on the old ones.
I'd like to see an automatic sport quad that's actually sporty, not heavy like a Scrambler. If they gave the Scrammy an aluminum tube frame I'd buy it next week.
I almost always have give it the gas to go down hill with EBS and no ADC. Even on Bull Gap hill which is the biggest legal hill I know of in Michigan. I'd like to have ADC anyway if it doesn't cost extra. It wouldn't hurt, but all the trees I've hit were on level ground. One time I couldn't decide whether to go left or right around a tree, so I didn't. I skidded straight into it. I think the bark grew back eventually.
