Last month I got a survey from a independent company paid for by Polaris..It was about my opinion about a new utility quad..The engine was mounted sideways.. four wheel disc brakes ..different racks and a lot of other changes..I tried to make a copy but could not and tried to send to friend and it would not send..I also saw the Predator,Outlaw and RZR prior to being relased but same thing ..Somnehow they blocked it..I am sure we are going to see something new shortly..P.s. The picture was an artist sketch but looked good..

the highlifter guys have been talking about this and is sounds like a new opposing twin motor like BMW came out with for the dual-sport touring bikes... also they talk about a facelift for the sportsman... lips are sealed though on the specifics... i was thinking of a bigger maching but will now wait untill 09

Hoping they improve something on the sportsman 500 also, not every one wants to pay 10k for a 900 + quad. I want power steering on the 500, come on polaris, get with the program!!!

If you ran an opposed twin front to back you could really get the motor low in the frame.

I would agree with power steering but on all the sportsmans 500cc and up. also let the 800 lose about 100lbs (without sacrificing strength) so it wont be so damn heavy. then put a bigger gas tank on it.

other than that i love my 08 800.

i dont buy into the whole power steering.. whats next cruse control, air bags, anti-lock breaks... these are atv's, i want the bare minimal not all the bells and whistles... if you start adding all the extras your just have more to fix / maintain. do you want a workhorse or a overpriced quad with features you think are "neat" just my .02

See this post.

Same Subject

I think you will still be able to get bare bones, but manufactures are after the folks that have more money than sense. They are loosing too much $$ to aftermarket companies.

A pig is a Pig. I ride my friends 500 Foreman which weighs 600lbs thats still 100lbs less than mine and you can not feel the weight differance at all.

Its like having a girlfriend who weighs 700lb but goes on a diet and lose 100lbs, sorry at 600lbs she still far from sexy.

Its about time!!! I love watching that racing, but the saddest part about it was that Polaris was not in it. It will be great to see a Sportsman in it!

As far as power steering, I rode a Grizzly with it, and sure would appreciate it for snowplowing and certain types of riding. Being that it's electronic, seems like the best of both worlds would be to have it and also have the ability to switch it off if you wanted to.

Power steering is something that sounds simply silly until you actually get some seat time on an ATV with it. I thought it was just a silly gimmick but then I got some seat time on a Grizzly that had it. After a while on the Grizzly it really sucked to get back on an ATV without power steering. A very worthwhile advance in the industry and I can't wait until Polaris adds it to their machines.

I'm hoping for a 800cc+ Sportsman (I'd prefer something in the 950-1000cc range) with A arm front suspension, disc brakes, EFI of course, the same great Polaris ride. Power steering is a must. I would like to see them restyled. The current Sportsman line is simply hideous.

Now, I'd buy one and overlook the styling but they're just as ugly as can be. Sort of like a rubbermaid trashcan melted onto the front end of the thing. It's like their styling engineer dropped dead before he got through and they just tacked on the front end as an afterthought and it doesn't match the rest of the bike. It isn't like Polaris can't build an attractive machine. Their sport models are sharp looking. The sportsman is just plain ugly. An outstanding machine but butt ugly.

I agree that the sportsman is not the best looking atv, but I love my 00 sportsman 500. They ride great and are pretty much trouble free. And power steering would be nice.

i lotve the looks - and as far as the tupperware box - its better than have a rack the mage out of chinsey bars welded together - try and put anything small on the rack and watch it fall to the ground. worse yet - try and put yer beer on it.

i love riding my "FAT AND UGLY OLE GIRL"

I would like to see power steering on the polaris, I will trade in the 07 to have it! Power steering will absorb the shock if you hit something in the trail ie. small stumps, roots, rocks. At low speed these will jerk the handle bars out of your hands w/o power steer! Been there done that and rolled the quad

My 2 cents!
