The rear brakes on my 200cc redcat do not work very well ... hardly at all... any suggestions?? Also the chain on it is very rusty but i cant seem to find a link that comes apart.. one has a little thing that pops off but i cant seem to break the chain apart.... i want to take it off and soak it in something to get the rust off.. how does it come apart?

Brakes could be worn pads. How old is the quad?

For the chain...After you get the thing that pops off (master link clip) you need to pry the side plate off. Use a flat blade screw driver and pry against the link next to it and it should come off. Then you can pry the other side out and get the chain off.

ok cool thanks for that pic and the description .. yea i thought it was supposed to come apart there but i didnt want to mess anything up..its just a little stuck cause of the rust i guess.... and its only a 2006.. would bleeding the breaks help ?(if possible).. and i really didnt look at the pads ill have to check them out.. easy to replace?

Is it rear Disc or Drum brakes? If it's disc and you are bottoming out on the brake foot petal (seems to go way down with not stopping the atv) then yes you will need to bleed it. If it's drum the cable needs to be adjusted!

yea its a disk and it does go down low but im not sure exactly how to bleed em..

Just like a car, there is a nipple looking nut on the caliper, have some one pump the pedal 3 times and hold it down then loosen the bleeder nipple and the fluid will swert out. Then tighten the nipple back up with the pedal still held down then have them let up on the pedal and that should do it! You may want to put a hose on the nipple and run it to a cup so the brake fluid does not go all over. And refill the reservoir which is located somewhere under the rear right fender. Make sure there is plenty of fluid in there to begin with!

Pads are pretty easy to check. You can see how much pad is left by looking at where the caliper meets the rotor.I you need new pads you will need to remove the caliper, usually held on by 2 bolts. Then you can see how the pads are held in the caliper. Most are either 2 pins on the outside, or 1 pin at the middle near the top. Pull the pin/pins and the pads will come out.
