Well since I have had good luck with my Marshin I went ahead and ordered my son a 2008 Hanma Utility R-9 from ATVdiscounters http://www.atvdiscounter.com/A...V-67/ProductInfo.aspx. This is a 110 cc mini utility quad that has front and rear brakes. This unit comes with a 12 month parts replacement warranty on the engine, transmission, and frame. The price $548.00 with shipping to local shipping depot. For a extra $49.99 you can have it delivered to your residence. I will keep a update on this unit as well. It was ordered on the 02/22/08 with a expected delivery date of up to 12 working days.

Hey kczukiman, I was wondering how that Roketa 150 is doing for you. Looking at a similar unit for my wife. It is a SunL unit, but looks almost the same.

Hi ghcoe,The roketa is a workhorse. It is built very well.My wife loves it.I don't knock anyone choice of of bike to each his own but you may want to do some research on the sunl befor you make your decision .There have been a lot of posts in this forum as well as other ATV sites on the sunl machine and they havn't been favorable. But maybe they have made some improvements.Just be cautious and do your homework

Well, that is one of the reasons I started my forums. Hard to find good information to base your decisions on. I believe that the Hanma is a SunL product. On the other hand, I have read the Roketa was a poor brand. Buy from the cheapest sellers and sell to unsuspecting buyers. Most Chinese brands have this reputation it seems. I am buying form this seller because they have been selling units for 3 years and have a good rating with the BBB. Hope I only have good things to say about this unit.

I was curious about how much power the Roketa 150 had. My wife wants a auto when we get her one and that unit was in the price range. She is no speed demon, but would like to cruise along at a good speed. My Marshin cruises in the 30 to 35mph range on flat ground and is a 200cc 5 speed at 510 Ib. Looks like the Roketa, like yours, is a little lighter and has about the same power to weight ratio before rider.

Well, went and picked up the Hanma R9 today. It had some damage from shipping. Looks like they put another pallet on top of it and it crushed the light steel frame protecting it. Damage was limited to the seat (cut) and handle bar fairing (scratches). Some paint was scratched and chipped where the wheels were stored between the fenders. I was not going to accept it, but the shipping company admitted fault and noted it on the shipping manifest so that I can make a claim with the dealer.

Got it together and changed the oil in less that a hour working time. It did not want to start at first. Battery showed that it had 12 volts, but it did not even make a click. Checked the wires and did not find anything wrong. Went ahead and hooked up the battery charger/booster to it and it made a click. Let it charge a few minutes and it turned over and fired. Second try it started right up. I went ahead and let it idle for 30 minutes to get rid of the packing gel in the carb if it had it. I also turned down the throttle limiting screw so that it only has about 1/4 throttle. After 30 minutes we took it for a spin. It ran great! Moves out pretty good with only 1/4 throttle too. I was surprised it pulled me just fine as well. Little slow at first, but picks up real fast once moving. Can't wait till we can use the full throttle...

Three days of riding and still no issues. My son loves it. I did have to turn up the idle some. It idled fine, but was hard to start when cold. I read that the idle speed was suppose to be around 1,200 rpm, so I adjusted the idle up to see if that will curve the cold start issue. I knew it was not idling at 1,200 so I tried to adjust by ear.

Turning up the idle helped some on cold start up. Still a little harder to start than I would like though. Outside of that still running great. Turned the throttle limiter up a bit today. I notice a slight hesitation at full throttle (with limiter) at cruise. Under load it is fine. Guess I will need to look into some more carb tuning. I will look into that once I get 10 hours of run time so I can run without the limiter. I am glad this unit has a foot brake. It is awful hard for small hands to operate the front handbrake. The rear brake is hydraulic disc and is very easy to operate. It will lock up without much effort.

Judging by the photo of your son sitting on this Hanma ATV , your son is to BIG for this unit. His butt is amost off the seat and his arm span will have him cramped in tight turns ect.

Just keep your eye out on this one.

The size of the atv is on the small side for him. He is right at that size where I was not sure to go with this size or the next one up. He liked this unit so we decided to go with it. It will probably be handed down to his sister later on. It fits her about right and will for the next few years.

I figured out the hard starting when cold problem. It was the choke cable. It is not moving the choke to the full closed position. I just used my finger to close it all the way and it started right up. Looks like there is a adjustment at the choke for the cable. Have not had time to mess with it yet though.
