Hi, I hope you can help me, I think I've tried everything and no luck. I was told that a float valve was stuck, I spayed carb cleaner over every port I could see, hooked the fuel line up and still no fuel going into the float bowl.it 's a 400 rancher 2007, low low miles. after using all the carb cleaner, i put penetrating oil into the fuel line that connects to the carb.I also tried blowing air through that port, but nothing goes through. I don't get fuel flowing out the bottom of the carb once the fuel line is connected back up. Don't know if there is a fuel pump on it. Any suggestions? Much appreciated
we have 1999 300 2x4 arctic cat. Had a guy work on it and he pulled the head. we need to know how to get the cam back in time and put it back together do you have any suggestions or pics Thank you
Thanks swampy, Turned out to be very stupid, I had the main needle pilot installed in the wrong direction. It would not let the slide bottom so the needle wasn't seating. Turned it over and it fixed the problem immediately.
Another question. Any idea where I can buy a pilot adjust screw for a Mikuni BST 34mm? It's off a Polaris Trail Boss 330. It was stuck in the carb so bad I had to force it out. It was not included in the Shindy kit I bought, and I found out that it's not even shown on the Polaris carb drawings. So far I can't find anyine who sells it, or a kit that has it included. I'm also looking for starter (choke) plungers for a Kawasaki and Yamaha I'm working on. Same story, I can't find a source.
I'm working on a 96 TRX300. The bike starts easily and idles well. The problem is that it will not take any throttle without bogging down and dying. When I say any I mean "0". Touch the throttle and it dies. Heres what I have done so far.
Carb removed, soaked in Gunk and flushed out with carb clean.
Installed new kit including needle and float.
Float height checked and the fuel level is at 1/16" below the bowl / body mating line.
Lowered the main needle by 1 "click" from the orginal setting.
The fuel / air mix screw is set at 2 turns out as a starting point.
None if the above has had any effect on the problem. It seems like it's not picking up any fuel from the bowl. I'm thinking it may be the diaphram although it looks to be in really good condition. Is there a way to properly check it other than visually? What other things could cause this?
Is that the spring on the shifter that returns it to the common position? Shift lever is level?
If so I am unaware of them braking. Mine has gotten corroded and would stick casuing youto have to tap the lever in the other direction to get it to pop back into the common position.
On the bright side at least you had the tools, materials and know how to get it done given the circumstances?
Friday I was up river about 60 miles and my bike would not shift up or down stuck in 5th gear. End up tearing in to it and found I broke a 3.00 shift spring rebent it and got it home works fine now. Its not some thing I care to be doing in the field ended dumping pop cans out to save engine oil and antifreeze. ordered some new parts today for it. I hope that doesn't happen offten.
I can't seem to find a specific adjustment procedure for my Cat 500, you offered to send me the pages, I'd love to take you up on that. my email is info@lastchancefishingadventures.com .
