You asked how to attach flat strap to a winch? just drill 2 1/8in holes in the drum (no it wont hurt anything) and put a couple short self tapping skrews threw the strap to the drum.
The real trick gere is not the skrews but using about 3-4foot of strap. once the strap loops around itself it will tighten and hold itself on.

I am attempting a 3lite mod on my 2000 Polaris magnum 500. I followed the instructions you gave another rider, but they don't work for me. I don't have a lighter plug. I spliced # 30 into into the green wire & # 86 to the yellow wire, but the lower lights go out when the hi beam comes on. Does the positive wire from the lighter plug wire supply power to the relay ? Do I need to do something different since no my machine has no lighter plug ?
