I have run an 03 , 05 and 06 gixxer 1000 motor in 3 different builds, the newer motors do make a little more power, i wont use the 07 or newer due to the fact that their oil pans hang down even lower and compromise ground clearance. An 02 should be a fine selection if it is in good mechanical condition.You will want to pick up a set of gauges. Good luck with the build.

Hi Curtis, It's been awhile. I am the one who bought your KMS DS 733. I am now looking to put a possible 2002 GSXR motor in my chassis. You got any pointers for me if this is a good enough engine to use or not? It has 7000 miles on it and is only the motor, wiring...no guage cluster. Thanks Robert
