Yes, I cleaned jets. Compression around 110 lbs. I haven't tried a new spark plug because I was getting spark. Where is the Reed?

Guys, I don't understand this visitor thing well.
If I don't respond, please use the PM function.

johnvl, You/re lucky! Most cut pipes don't do well. Yes I think a AM exhaust will help. I recommend the Trinity Racing pipe.
As for the first message, I can do the motor work. I recommend my national motor kit. It covers all motor and clutch mods.

me again, i have a second lt80 that my daughter rides. i cut out/ sectioned out the baffle section fron the stock muffler then rewelded it back together. the piston is .50 over. the carb is jetted and running uni air cleaner. the bike runs great like this, do you think i would gain much with a/m exhaust?

good morning sir, i'm new to this forum and joined at the recommendation of another member. he told me that you are the definitive source for information regarding LT80 trouble-shooting.
I'd like to pick your brain if I may...i've got an '87 LT80 that i've only had for about a year, but it's been a sound runner for me as well as the previous two owners.
Last fall, i was letting it idle and warm up while my son got his gear on. when he got on it to take off, it stopped running and hasn't run since.
it will turnover all day long, but simply will not fire. I've verified approximately 120lbs of compression, cleaned the carb, installed new air filters and spark plug. I've dumped raw gas into the cylinder head and it still didn't fire.
Now, there is spark. but to my eye, it seems a little weak which leads me to believe i've got a failed or failing coil. does that sound accurate to you?
any insight you'd be able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

    Hello, LT80...
I've read many of your posts. I have a question about the exhaust studs...
I purchased an LT80 for my son and it is missing one of the exhaust studs.
I would like to replace both studs with new. I have investigated and the other stud will remove with no problem…
Do you recommend I re-install new factor studs or is there a bolt I can use instead of studs?
Is there a stainless bolt or stud I can use?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Jason,
The stock pipe performs very well but it takes motor mods. It does perform as good as some aftermarket pipes(as you seen w/DG)
I recommend not cutting the stock pipe. That never turns out good.
The Trinity pipe is what I prefer but I hear they are getting pricey ($250 or so).
What are you looking to achieve? maybe there is a better way.
    Later,
    Jack

I believe I have read in the past that you are able to get the same performance out of a stock pipe as an aftermarket one. Are you modifying the stock one in any way. I was thinking of pulling the drain plug and threading another pipe outlet in the plugs place. My other thought was to cut the end and remove all the spark arrestor restrictions and weld the cap back on. What are your thoughts or mods to the stock pipe. I bought a DG and it's a little better than stock, but not at the expense. It's time to pipe my youngest's, and I'd like to just mod the stock one if possible.
    Thanks for your time
    Jason
