Hi Gimpster. I have an issue with a 2000 450 Foreman electric shift. I went through the Honda service manual several times. The conclusion was ECM. I couldn't find a machine to test the ECM on so I bought a new ECM. Still no shift. I found another machine and confirmed the ECM function. My dealer couldn't fix it. I've spoken to Honda. Excuses, evasivness, and their solution (translation):Let the dealer continue troubleshooting until he finds the problem or you run out of money.
I'm a 50 year old machinist/mechanic. This is the first machine I haven't been able to figure out.
One issue sticks in my mind. The res/black wire going to the shift switch shows 5V. The other two, blue/white and yellow/white, indicate they're grounded. If I jump the red/black to the blue/white, the yellow/white no longer shows continuity to ground but indicates 2V. If I jump the black/red to the yellow/white, then the blue/white is no longer a ground but it shows 2V.
Can you please help me with this?
