2005 KFX 50 CVT collar removal help
Hey all, I know this is old news but I am in the process of removing all the restrictors from the 05 KFX 50 2-stroke I just purchased. I have read that there is a collar in the CVT that won't allow the quad to reach full speed. I would love some instructions on performing the removal of this collar. I know I have read them before but it has been a while and I can't find any fourms on that subject anymore. I would appreciate any tips and info available. Thanks!

I dont have that exact model but I have a 07 kfx90 and tis prolly similar, on ours we had to remove the side plastics and the kickstart, then pull the cvt cover off, use an impact wrench to take the front pully nut off, remove the outer cover of pully and pull the belt off that boss, the shim should fall right out it sits under the belt on the boss, put it all back together and ride, my sons 90 went from 15mph to 30 with this simple change

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the 2005 2-stroke and the 2007 4-strike are made by different companys. I was told by the Pro-Caliber techs today that there is infact a collar in the cvt, but thats all I got from them along with a quote for them to remove it. I am attempting to save a few bucks and do it myself but it would appear that I will need to purchase an overpriced service manual to do so. I just figured someone on one of these sites would be able to give me the info. Thanks again for taking the time to send me a response.

Hmm, he summed it up!!! That about it. As for the over priced manual, get it of ebay. They have them on there all the time
