Hello everyone,

I could use some help please. I bought my son an 05' Eton 90 not to long ago. be riding if around the yard a couple times and we finally got a good weekend to do some real riding. we were having a great day until his bike started craping out. we brought it home, i pulled the air filter, cleaned the carb and reassembled everything. i cranks when pulling starter button but wont start. if i use the kick start it runs fine. also runs with no problems when riding now, but occasionally will die when it is at idle. any thoughts as to why i can kickstart it but not start it with the electric starter?

 

First thing I'd have the battery load tested. Plus these little ones should be charging at least 13 volts back to the battery while at an idle. If not a regulator may be at fault not keeping a battery charged. They can run without a battery,but need a good charged battery to electric start.

 

If that's all good, do a compression test.

well, not what i wanted to find out but now i know what i need to do. compression came in at 70 psi where it should be between 90-120. looks like i got a top end to rebuild.
