We have the 4 stroke 50 and it sat for a while. I started it up the other day and a bunch of gas leaked out. I took the plastic off and found out that the gas was squirting out from the vent tube on the right lower side of the engine. The vent tube was run all the way up near the gas tank.
Im wondering if maybe the time it was sitting that gas leaked into the motor?? Im not sure what part of the engine that vent is for.

The question now is what to do about it. After the initial spurt of fuel it seems to have gone away but im afraid to run it more.

Any advice?

Edit, i was just looking at a digram of the engine and it seems it is the CVT case that the gas was in. Sooo how did the gas get in there and what do i do about it?

 

i know on the 80, the only way fuel could work itself into the cvt case would be thru the crank seal, im not too familiar with the 50

 

Sounds like a carb cleaning or rebuild the case is full of fuel. U will need to drain the oil and gas that's in there and fill back with proper amt of oil. Not for sure if it has an oil filter. If its in the cvt case u prob have a bad crank seal. That will need to be replaced
