Voltage Regulator blowing fuses

Voltage Regulator blowing fuses
Still having issues with this, it will crank up and run all day hooked to a charger and no regulator, but unplug the charger it dies. If I connect the regulator, it blows the fuse. Could it be the coil? or cdi box? I don't think it is the stator because it starts up. I am going to go ahead and buy a new battery just in case, but the battery that is on it will hold charge (brake light comes on without being hooked to the charger), but when I crank on it a few times, and not having the regulator on there it don't last long before I have to charge it. It is somewhere between the battery and the regulator - where does the voltage go from the time you turn on the key to the time it hits the regulator? Connect the regulator - even key off, blows the fuse. 2004 Arctic Cat 4-stroke 90
