Default HELP LT80 starter problems

After putting in new top end the bike started right up. But after a couple times starting the starter went out.

It would make a whinning noise but not start.

got a new starter and it started right up but same thing happened after a day of use the new starter starts making the same noise but not starting the engine.

Anyone have any ideas? It's driving me nuts trying to figure out why we've gone thru two starters this fast.

I'm new here and also a new owner of a couple of old lt80's.....so don't listen to me too much!

Sounds like the started is working, but not the solenoid. Not sure why that would happen so quickly to a new start. I'm sure someone will chime in with ideas for you. Just curious....how bad of a job is it to change the starter on these little quads? I just tore into the clutch on one of mine over the weekend (actually got to take it apart like 3 times!). That first time was horrible. I don't think anyone has ever done anything to this quad so it was really hard getting that clutch cover off. I now need a couple of new allen head bolts to replace the ones that were abused trying to get them loosened.

Changing the starter really isn't that bad. Undo the bolt connecting the frame. Get a bar and pry the engine up and you can get the the starter bolts a lot easier.

If you stand the quad up its a whole lot easier to get to the starter too.

Default Same Here.

I have been having the same problem. Have you figured out the probem yet? Please let me know if you do, and I'll do the same. To me it sounds like the starter is spinning but not engaging.
