Default Gio 110cc will not start

my nefew has one of these atv's and it ran fine for a while then died. they sent an entire new engine for this and i replaced it and again it ran fine for about 6 hours riding time then was parked one day and the next day it wont start.
It clicks as the solenoid engages but will not turn over the starter.
I took the solenoid off my nieces machine (50cc modle but solenoid is the same) and it does the same thing. I also took the starter off the old engine thinking that may be the problem and also the same result, solenoid clicks and starter will not turn over.

any ideas ?

unfortunately the dealer for these bikes locally will not return any calls nor emails since the first engine swap saying he doesnt make any money on them once its sold. It took many calls just to get teh engine replaced under warranty (was less than a month old at the time) and he even refuses to take the old engine back for the exchange.

any help is very appreciated

Measure the voltage on the starter motor power lug while the solenoid is "clicked". It should be 11 to 12 volts. If not follow it back through the solenoid to the battery itself. You probably have a bad connection somewhere such as a bad wire crimp in the heavy gauge starter motor wiring. Also make sure that the battery minus terminal ohms out to engine ground (should read zero ohms, the same as when the two ohmmeter terminals are shorted together).
