Default 2006 eton 90 issues

Hello all,

I recently purchased a second eton 90r. This is a 4 cycle and it seems to have a few issues.

First is it smokes when at idle and while reving it is a white smoke so i am hoping it is carb related since it had sat for over a year with out being ran. The plug is black and wet which makes me think it is running rich like the carb has gunk in it. It has now gotten to the point it will run for a few minutes then shut off and not restart. If you wait a little bit it will restart but not stay running.

Second issue is the starter Clicks like it doesn't have enough power to turn it over I have put a new battery on it and it still doesn't always turn over it will just click and the starter is hot to the touch.

If anyone can help me with this I would much rather fix it myself then taking it to the dealer..

Is the choke turned off?..You could also try shutting the gas off at the petcock and letting the engine run till it empties the carb..Sometimes that will dislodge dirt trapped in the needle and seat..If not you will probably need to give the carb a good cleaning..

The choke is off. I figured out that the airbox was full of water once i slept on it I pulled the airbox cover and it had a good bit of water in it it so I drained it and now the smoking is alot better it isn't completely gone but at least it doesn't make my other son's 2 cycle 90 look like the 4 cycle. I went ahead and changed the oil in it again just to make sure no water got in the oil.

The plug is still pretty black so I ithnk the rest is carb issues. I will try your method and go from there thanks for your help
