Sorry, I'm actually talking about a quadmaster, but I presumed they're all the same.

My son had an lt 50 before we decided to move him up to the 80, sometimes it would lie in the shed for a month or so and when we pulled it out it would fire up 1st time, never had any probs with it at all

Thats why i went for the suzuki again, but i agree the honda is a good bike as well(used to have an atc 70)

They are both good bikes and far superior to the chinese stuff and have a good resale value too

Off to get the cylinder bored today, how many times can this be done? it has a 1.00 oversize piston in it already, the scours on the barell are quite bad and i think it may have to be bored out a further 1.00 to get rid of them

A 1.5 Wiseco piston is in your future. Suzuki don't make them past 1.0
Have the bore guy hone it to .0035/.004 clearance.

Sorry guys, I just had to joke around.

pro x is a fine piston maker, you shouldn't have a problem with that. Now that you have it apart, now is the time to get a nice little list of mods from Jack (LT80) that you can do while the motor is apart, like clutch mods, reed cage work, etc. With just a few little tweaks, your kid will never want to get off the seat. My son started out on a worn out 87 LT80 that I rebuilt, and lightly modded, it was so much better than stock, he rode it from 4.5 until he was almost 9.

Thanks for all your help/info

Is there any mods that can be done without involving money?lol

I remember on the lt 50 we removed a restrictor in the exhaust and also a jet out of the carb(i think)

It was still a bit underpowered tho , had to push it up the slightest hint of a hill.

Can the chain be adjusted,as i cant seem to find how to do it if it can be

And is there no pilot/air mixture screw on the carb either?

No chain adjustment. Some ppl make adjusters for them.
Your correct, no air/fuel mix screw.
Mods: cut the rear shoes down to 180 grams (etondaddy has posted pics).
Remove the head gasket to bump up compression (we usually shave the head .030 and use the gasket).
You can try removing 2 of the rollers in the front clutch.
That'll make it run more efficient and come out of the hole better.

And cant get it to start
Been so long now i dont even remember where the hoses from the carb go
Is it one at the bottom(petrol feed) top right tank vacuum, and top left goes to rear of crankcase?

Its got a spark,im trying it with petcock on prime and the carb is filling with fuel, starnge thing is it wont even fire with a small drop of petrol straight into the cylinder

Any help/suggestions much appreciated

Thanks
