E-ton Viper 90R CDI
I just bought a used 2005 Viper 90R that had no spark. The price was right so I couldn't refuse it. I've done some preliminary investigations and cannot find anything that is "obviously" wrong. I've even looked at the stator thinking that maybe it had gotten wet since I've heard that E-tons and water don't mix. The quad turns over just fine but the shift indicator on the dash doesn't light up telling me what gear it's in and it just isn't getting any spark. Upon looking into the CDI on it, it appears the CDI controls everything from shifting to spark.....you name it it controls it. There are a ton of wires and connectors coming off that sucker too. I suppose that's why these 90R's are plagued with the electrical gremlins that I've been reading about.
Anyway, I'm asking you guys/gals out there that are more familiar with these E-ton 90R's for some advice. Should I go ahead and spring for the 85.00 CDI and hope that fixes it or should I be looking for something else that's wrong?
By the way....when I move the shift lever from F to N to R, nothing happens at all, not even a sound from the electrical motor that drives the shift mechanism. It's pretty much dead all over other than a good strong crank when you hit the starter. Oh...the lights come on too.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
