Ok I made up a wiring diagram real fast of what I believe is important to get SPARK. Please let me know if you see anything that I need to add or change. If you copy this

it should pull up a bigger picture. Thank you very much for all the help so far SAWYER

Ok i think I might have found a problem. I was comparing the two connectors to the CDI from both quads and found that they are both different. This could be the problem hopefully. THis is a picture I drew of what mine looks like.

Ok i am confused as to where the Ignition coil makes the power to spark. all that power just comes from the one blue/yellow wire that also tells the engine when to fire. If that were true then why coudnt you just bypass the CDI completely? From the diagram that you sent me it only shows that there should be 3 wires to the CDI. Blue/yellow from engine that gives the signal to fire, Black/Yellow goes to Ignition Coil, and Green for ground. My wiring looks just like the wiring in the diagram. I am so so confused now as to why its not working. Thanks again though for all the help. I guess I may have to bite the bullet and just take it to a shop.

WisdomRacer,

Here is a good explanation on why you need the CDI in the circuit. Text

Something to try : Text 1

Unfortunately without having the proper specs for testing each electrical component for the proper resistance, voltage, and continuity it becomes a remove and replace kind of situation. Could get expensive.

Some people had issues with the remote start/kill systems that come installed on the the kids ATV's that produce the no spark issue.

One more thought is if the quad has clutch/brake lever safety measures installed on the unit you may need to apply the lever (pull in) for the quad to start.

On the CDI do I need the two connector to be connected? I thought from looking at the diagram that it was just for the rev limiter and killing the engine. So the one wire going out of the engine to the CDI should send off power and then Stop for a split second correct. When I checked the voltage from that wire (Blue/white) it was only like .02v or something like that. Is that enough?

The voltage may be a little low on the Blue/White wire.

Here is another file that will help with the steps needed to test. Again without the proper specs its hard to say. Text You need to change to color of the wires on the diagram to match your set up.

Here is something else to try: no spark
