Your description sounds like the float is stuck open.
Do you have gas leaking out the overflow hose out on the floor?
Or is it leaking from your gas line going in the top of the carb?
If your float is stuck open you will have to remove the carb,
Can give you step by step directions if needed as I have done mine.
