i talked to al at "raptor80racing" about it.
he said it would move the ingagement point on the clutch higher in the rpm band where there is more power.

were ridng this weekend i'm going to try to do it next week.

#1 rejet carb (main jet 80. pilot jet 12.5 replace the slide with part# 2HX-14112-35-00 also need to replace main nozzle to part# 2HX-14141-78-00. Ok carb done let move on.remove the two screw on throttle housing, you will see a gold bracket you need to replace with part# 36B-2625H-00. NOW YOU HAVE FULL THROTTLE!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was at Yamaha today to buy the jets. They did not have them and i have to wait till monday to find out if they can order them because they were not listed in there computer. they had jets but none of the large round jets besides stock size.
i allso noticee that the pilot jet recomended above is smaller (leaner) than stock. is that what i am going to want to do? and just for the heck of it i priced the parts with part numbers and part# 36B-2625H-00 is not valid and could not find it in his computer either. anyone know the what the part# is?

oops!

sorry for the bad info guys.

i did some reserch and found that some of the numbers that i found quoted were wrong.
i crossed referenced the parts from my '04 50 to my '04 80.

part# 2HX-14112-35-00, valve,throttle 1 is correct. it is out of the 80.
stock 50# is 5yf-14112-30-00

part# 36B-2625H-00 should have been 3gB-2625H-00-00, arm,throttle. this also from an 80.
stock 50# is 5yf-2625h-00-00

based on these two, i'm guessing the maine nozzle is also from the 80

the part# 2HX-14141-78-00 should have been 4em-14141-78-00 nozzle,main.this also from an 80.

as for the jets, the stock 80 jets:

pilot #12.5
main #76.3

hope this helps. let me know if you find anything else or diffrent

i did the slide cut and throdel stop this weekend. what a huge diffrence that made!

i started thinking about the cdi. if i take the cdi off the 80, wouldnt that work??
so i looked around some more.
found a guy that did it, (nov.'04) he changed the cdi and wireloom from an 80 and said it doubled the speed of the 50!!!!!!

any one have any info on this mod
I looked at an 80 at the dealer today and the cdi box is a big difference as far as the connections go. Can you really put a cdi box from an 80 to a 50?

mmade22

your right, there connections are different. this guy changed the wireloom and cdi from an 80.
he said everything pluged right in except the break lever switch, thats then only splice.

the drawback is cost: wierloom is $80.00 , the cdi is $160.00

the positive side is you jump from 8000 rpm to 9600 rpm!! thats 600 more than the aftermarket cdi.

now if you want to live on the edge, try the aftermarket cdi for the 80 with a 10600 rpm!!!!!

if some one does this before i have a chance to do it, let me know!! its all hearsay and guessing at this point.

till i see it in action!

have a good day alll!

keep the shiny side up!!
