Ya... it's on the '03 and newer Polaris minis.. you're '02 probably doesn't have a removable revlimiter (the '02 50cc Scramblers didn't). We used a CDI box from a ETon brand quad for our Scrambler 50.

The DRR CDI's are not restricted. In our testing to get a unrestriced CDI, we tried a DRR CDI in our Scramberl 50. It worked great and allowed it to rev wide open.. but a DRR's kill swith is wired oppisite of the Polaris Scramblers, so our kill switched didn't work.

Thanks Bryce,
So you're saying if I installed a CDI from an Eton It would allow my 90 to open up more on top? If so can you pick those up from a dealer? Thanks, I'm kind of new to hopping these up

I wouldn't want to give you bad information.. I haven't tried this on a Scrambler 90, but I would guess it's the same way as the 50s. you'd have to test it out. I know of many Scrambler 50s that have done this, but I don't know anyone with a Scrambler 90 to ask.

We got ours off of ebay.. but the guy selling them has since sold out. When we got ours, we only paid $25 for it.. teh last one I saw on ebay went for over $90. For $90, you could probably get one from the dealer. What you are looking for is a CDI that has a green wire loop on it. The green wire comes out and loops back into the side of the CDI and is not near the rest of the wires... clip that wire, and it disables the rev limiter.

Good luck with this.

I have the 2004 50cc predator. I was told (Pol) that I do not need to buy that cdi with the green wire to get the quad to rev-free. The stock cdi units can be modified to allow free rev. I should have the directions within 1 week and I will post them here. I saw that ebay cdi also.

Correct.. on the '03 and newer Polaris minis, there is a removable stainless steel pieces screwed to the outside of the CDI box. Just remove it, and you're done. on teh '02 and older Polaris Minis, that was not there. Short of opening up the sealed CDI box and unhooking or rewiring something, there's nothing you can do but replace it with one that doesn't have it.

Don't quote me yet on this but I was told that the CDI on the 2003-2004 predator 50cc is still restricted with the clip removed. There is an additional modification needed to the CDI to make it Rev-Free. So again, I am just going on what I was told. This could be plain hogwash. As soon as I get the directions and actually apply it, I will post the results.
