Default 650 on the dunes!

Well, I just got back from the dunes and I am happy to post that I could just about go anywere I wanted to on my p650. Sure there were a couple places where the weight of the machine hindered me from cresting the dune, but you should have seen the dunes she would climb with the Bear Claws. It was awesome!

What a great machine! I think it surprised everyone that saw me that I was climbing some really steap dunes with this sport/ute! All in all, A really great day!

I have taken my '02 650 to the dunes. I still have the stock dunflops on it (uuugghh) and it still climbed any hill... The largest was quite steep and tall (probably 150-200' maybe more), I never had a problem as long as I did not stop until I had creasted the hill. It was quite fun watching other quads and expensive trucks trying multiple times to climb the hil I just got up on the first attempt...

I've had my Vinson on the dunes and had no trouble getting around, but the hill climbs worked much better in low range and 4x4 engaged. I felt like it was hard on the belt unless wide open in high. The sand has so much resistance and you can really feel the added weight of the 4x4.

Perhaps the added HP of the bigger twin motor make the difference. In the sand, my Vinson would have benefited from a gear range somewhere between high and low.

Last year went to Imperial Sand Dunes in CA. (Glamis) Rode for six days. Could go up Oldsmobile Hill in reverse. Had a great time. Ran 112 miles in one treck with extra fuel. 650 P went 77 miles without fuel.
Found all kinds of WWII era spent ammo cases and bullets in sand. 50 cal, 30 cal, link belt links, and Lizards galore.
We took 3 polaris's and one kawie, no problems, just fun in the sun and sand!!
