300 Bayou won't rev up
#31
I was working on a bayou 220 a while ago and the key on the cam stripped, thankfully I had another bayou 220 engine on hand.
I also got a generic mikuni carb off of ebay for $80ish. It was a 26mmm size though not a 22 (or whatever the stock size is) with a little tuning it worked fine.

The piston/cylinder clearance is: 0.025 - 0.052
piston ring end gap
top: 0.15 mm - 0.35 mm service limit: 0.7
bottom: 0.30 mm - 0.45 mm service limit: 0.8
I'd upload the page that has all the specs, but I don't see a place to do that.
*edit*
*I actually have the bayou 220 manual, but I'd assume they're in the same ball park. at least the service limit.

I've thought about it, but aside from the diaphragm failing, the OEM carb works great and is good on gas. Hondas and Suzukis use the same type of carb so they can't be that bad.
The old Bayou is still working good. I put over 100 miles on it on Saturday with no issues at all and burned less fuel than my brother with his 2004 250 Bayou.
