Default re-fill my battery with acid?

I picked up another quad yesterday, a 86 bayou 300. The thing would not start, and the battery was dead. But, the guy only wanted 400 and it had brand new itp mudlite tires on it, which i wanted to try to use on my ltz400 (stupid me but theres gotta be a way), so I offered him 300$ and he let me take it, came with a plow too!
Last night I took apart the carb and cleaned it, empty the gas put new gas in, put my tractor battery in and it starts right up and runs, no stalls.

Anyways, there is a nappa battery in it that is dead charging it does nothing. He gave me a bottle of battery acid. How do I do this? I took the capps of the top of the batt and can't see any liquid in the cells, but is it there? Do I have to remove the old acid first? or is it gone do you think? How would I remove it?

If the quad is that old, chances are the battery is quite old, and completely dead, usually you add distilled water to bring the levels up, and only put acid in a new battery, which is usually sold dry with a bottle of acid to fill it with. Sealed batteries are sold "wet" , but the are a different breed than the old cap cell type. Your best bet is buy another battery, you got the quad cheap enough, 40 or 60 bucks for a new battery isn't so bad.

A Yuasa or other name brand battery would be about 70 bucks, but they do last a long time, I have had battery life problems with Walmart batteries for quads, but they do seem to work pretty good for the most part.
