These ATV’s use algorithms to calculate speed- They are not that accurate. Also, 70mph is very fast and unstable on this type of utility quad. They are not built for speed, never were. Even the factory specs place speed around 45-50mph.
I bought my BF 750i from the original owner, who only put 150 miles on it. It is bone stock. First thing I did when I bought it was blast down the road with the throttle pinned and the oddy read 53 mph. Of course, if I gun-it off the line, somewhere midrange the oddy will read 60 mph for a second or two until the computer can figure out the algorithm to display a close to accurate speed, but then drops to a more expected 48-50 mph. I ride with all big bore atv’s, and not one of them will hit any 70mph mark. Even my gps is a few mph off in my truck, who knows which is right though.
Curious as to what the radar will tell…
I have a new one on order and should be here next week. Will post a speed once it's broke in. But for now I have a 2006 with 640 miles on it. After cleaning the carbs and new seal around around the air box I took it for a few test runs. (about 2 weeks ago) Ran 70 on GPS with stock wheels and tires - Ran 66 on GPS with ITP wheels and 27" 589 titans. Seems like it used to run about 72 on GPS with stock wheels and tires. Which it could vary a few mph on any given day.
I've had my 06 650, with stocks on it doing over 70mph.
Listen up guys. We are talking about a stock carbed 650 doing 70 mph, not BF750 or Polaris 800/850 which might do. The sure way to tell is either GPS or radar gun. Don't waste time if you would be bragging about your top speed from the dreamometer.

My point- I know speed. You may have pussy on your mind, for that, I recommend you stop standing in front of the mirror. As for your stock outty 650 doing 72mph... well, you keep that dream alive- cause that's what it is, and nothing but.
i just got out of iraq, was there for 2 years in the army as a infantry officer , im 23 years old so yea i might not have as many years but i am a adrenaline junkie witch is why i probually joined the army and choose to be in combat . but it is a fact that a big bore with do 60 - 70. it is a joke to say a brute cant do 60, my rubicon witch is a slower atv has gotten up to 58 mph on a long stretch of pavement, and ive gotten my outty to at least 70, not saying it wasnt screaming, and it wasnt shaking, your kq in the photo is capable of 60 i garentee you, on a trail the most you may go is 40 but it will go much faster than that, the atvs size might not be made for speed but when you stick a rotax or kawi v twin in it it hauls. i do apologize because i didnt know you were a veteran , but you marine guys are full of your selves. o and when i got out i took my money and baught a fully restored top running quadzilla 500, and a 2004 corvette z06 with a borla exhaust and a eaton supercharger and others. my zilla does 88 but gets there fast, and my vette runs the quarter in 11. 2. not bad for a kid right

As for my king quad 700fi, top speed with 27" tires was around 55mph.

This thread has gotten off topic- unless or until someone with a radar can tag one of these atv's in question, there's no way I will acknowledge or believe any stock 600cc (or 700cc) utility quad will reach 70mph- unless of course you push it out of a plane at 5000'- then I'll eat a giant plate of crow-
My STOCK thundercat hit 100km/hr in 5 seconds
Its also topped out at 135km/hr on my GPS
So IDK what some of you are smoking but big bore ATV's can in fact do well over 60MPH!
Not that I care as I bought mine for torque...Not to go 135km/hr all day
