I am attempting to replace the starter motor and have followed the instructions stated in the service manual but am unable to pull it off the bike. Any ideas or tricks for removal?

I followed, to the letter, the service manual on how to remove everything to get to the starter motor and everthing came off like clock work until it was time to pull the starter motor. I was unable to extract it from the bike. Based on the service manual and from what I could see, there is only one bolt that holds the starter motor to the bike. I hit it with a mallet a few times but it didn't budge. Any ideas?

There are two bolts that hold the starter in place, they are both on the back side.

Once the bolts are out, should it slide out easily or is there a trick?

Mine was a little hard to get out, carefully pry between where the starter goes into the engine. There is an o-ring in there that holds it in snug.
