Default 1996 Kawasaki bayou 220 A9 Shift from N to 1st issue

I have tried adjusting the idle lower higher etc.. when i shift from to N to 1st or N to Reverse it jumps some enough to kill it unless i give it a little gas while shift to the next gear. Doesnt happen on any other gear and idles fine once i go back down to first only the initial N to 1st or N to reverse any ideas?

Seems like the one way clutch is seized and needs to be forced into working first time. If it was a centrifugal clutch shoe it would more likely stick after the first rev up rather than before it. Either way, the centrifugal and one way clutches are going to have to come apart, trouble is the one way clutch sometimes looks OK, but isn't.

Okay i will pull it apart today thank you. I recently changed the clutch plates because this is a new atv to me atleast but i didnt notice anything in particular out of the ordinary when i was inspecting and cleaning the inside housing and gears but i might have overlooked it. Is there anything i need to note or check besides obvious wear on the 2 parts?

So i pulled it apart the centrifugal clutch didnt look bad besides the pads on the side seem to be eaten up some i would say about 70% good and the one way clutch should it free spin at all? I wasnt able to spin it by hand but im not sure if it should spin or not, and the little metal pieces some of them dont seem to want to stay in place on the spring housing but i got it put back together. Any thoughts ?

The one way clutch should spin one way and not t'other. If it doesn't it is scrap. Are you sure you didn't put it back the wrong way when you fixed the multiplate? The centrifugal usually works OK until the shoes wear down to the metal, but Kawasaki shoes are prone to glazing, rough the surfaces with coarse Emery before refitting.

Default Samd issue with my 95 bayou 220

Hey I saw you posted this a few months back, but I recently picked up a bayou 220 and have been fixing it up. The main issue now is when I shift down to try to get it into neutral it slams in reverse ( no matter what speed) and when I try to go from R up to neutral it jumps to first. You said yours almost died unless you give it gas, mine goes in reverse and drives off around 3 mph lol
