Prairie 650 wiring problem

New to this board. Thanks for accepting me. Have a problem with my quad and am feeling dumber than a box of rocks. See explanation below. Knew the instant it happened that it was not a good thing. Time has proven me correct. Does the factory service manual better detail the wiring schematic of this quad? Was planning on selling it in the relatively near future and it seems a waste to spend $75 or so to buy the manual and use it once. Don't really think it would help sell the quad very much after the fact. Any and all ideas are welcomed. Thanks in advance for reading this post

2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 w/approx 150 hrs (ridden relatively conservatively)

belt light flashing

(all shims removed last year)

attempted to reset by unplugging black & gray wiring harness connectors to reverse them

black connector did not want to release

in an attempt to pull it apart, somehow strain was put on the male side of this connection

the 4 wires (all light gauge black with gray marks) became detached from the other end of this section of harness

noticed these wires were sticky as if they had been wrapped together by black tape

noticed these wires had NO bare wire exposed at the detached ends

could they have been pulled free from some harness connector?

CANNOT determine where they were previously attached

believe they were detached from somewhere around the instrument panel

have plugged harness back into place and extended it to attempt to determine possible connection point

have seen electrical parts diagram but does not clearly identify various wiring, especially by color

since all wires are the same color, would think that they power lcd segments or similar

fired up motor and instrument panel appears to be functioning properly

seems like they have to belong somewhere and serve some purpose but WHERE AND WHAT?

Don't sweat about the "sticky" end of the wires that got pulled off. Just tape them up and tug a way. The black connector is essentialy a jumper connector that is used to turn off the flashing belt light (with the gray connector). I don't think you did any harm to the wiring system as long as you did not pull any pin off the connectors. When removing the connector, use a small thin flat blade screwdriver to lift the "correct" locking tab (which can be confusing) on the connector. Also, make sure you use a correct belt light turning off procedure which can easily find in this forum (do a search). Make sure the belt toggle switch in is at "ON" position. You said you removed all the shims on the sheave. Looks like the belt is well used/stretched/thinned. Good luck.
