Bayou 220 vs. Honda Recon
#2
Scott,
Based on what I know as a Bayou 220 owner who has read numerous posts on the Recon, I would say the Recon is not only faster but also has a firmer ride. I should also add that I have seen numerous posts from younger riders who want more speed from their 220. However, it is an excellent choice for those who have "no need for speed" and enjoy a more leisurely ride.

Who cares about speed? If you want speed, get a Corvette! The measure of an ATV (All Terrain vehicle) is where it can take you. I'm not that familiar with a Honda Recon, but the 220 Bayou is pretty good for a two-wheel drive at getting you over some challenging stuff.
You know, maybe there is another measure for an ATV? Which one is the most fun for you?

My daughter has a 1988 220 bayou and i have a 99 Recon. They are very similar in performance including speed. However as she is 70lbs lighter than i am she has a bit more top end . about 44-45 mph vs. 42 mph for the Honda. Mine pulls better before top end as the gearing is lower. Both are a pleasure to drive on the trails.
