I have a Curtis Sparks system on mine and it's a little louder than I thought it would be. It made a significant power difference - especially after the carb was re-jetted.
Non-ATVers don't like to hear all the noise of loud pipes so more and more complaints get filed. I wouldn't buy one just cause it's loud. People who ride with you will get sick of hearing it and it just causes more problems for ATVers in general.
Guys, please, try to look at the big picture. What's more important: 2hp or puplic opinion of ATV riding and how land should be used. Please don't give environmentalists ammo or worse yet don't contribute to making ordinary citizens into ATV haters. I'm harnessing my real comments for this way of thinking because I don't want you to have a knee jerk response to another point of view and I know the most important thing is for you to understand how important this, but I'm sure some ATV owners will be down right pissed off with this post. Thanks
I personally love the sound of a nice loud pipe it just sounds awesome I never get sick of it. I ran loud pipes on all my quads BUT I don't ride near peoples houses or anywhere people might be that would object to a loud pipe. If I know I am going to say a state park or some public area I changed my silencer to one that wasn't so loud or put in the silencer that came with my pipe. Most people couldn't be botherd to go through that they'd just run aloud pipe all the time. Be smart buy a semi-loud pipe such as a pro-circuit T-4, you can adjust them for sound an performance via different sized end tips and a "quiet core".
i don't have to worry about noise in my neighborhood, almost everybody owns an atv, and they don't care. what would you consider the supertrapp exhaust- soft, medium, or loud. thanks for your input.
the supertrap IDS2 exhaust is a good choice its not too loud and it gives a good gain. i know my R4 is much louder than my friends bike (foreman 450 with IDS2)
