alright guys, i have a '99 400 with the following mods:

-ims 440 big bore with JE 10.3:1 piston
-Hot Cams stage 2 cam
-ported and shaved head
-complete e-series exhaust with mods
-K&N power kit
- no airbox lid

im going to get a larger aftermarket carb and needed to know what size was the best for this setup.

A lot of guys with your setup seem to like the FCR 39mm carb. If you want to go the cheaper route, there are a couple of aftermarket companies that are boring out the stock carb, with good results.

41FCR is the ultimate in performance [on the big end]. The 39FCR is a better all around carb for MX. If you are running in the woods, a modded stock carb that is bored and that has had the choke removed might be the best ticket. warning: If you have an aftermarket cdi and a de-choked carb on a 440 it can be difficult to start cold. Keep your stock cdi, start it with that then replace. It is easy to restart the engine after it has been warmed.

Go to motojoe.com and get the edelbrock carb. Hey if they are as good in atvs as they are in cars you can't beat it, trust me. Go edelbrock.

ive been looking for a stock carb that will work good on my bike and the crf 450 has a 40mm keihin flat slide, would this be a good setup for my bike? i thought i might be able to find one used for a reasonable price.
