hey bud I own a 87 CR500 and they were rated at 61H.P. but I have a fmf pipe & sylincer, nic's piston, saved head, ported cylinder, bored carb, reed spacer, and a high flow air filter and modified box
ohhhhhhhhh soooooooooooo fast fast fast

but back to your question the older bikes had less flywheel weight so the powerband hit harder
and they also had more compression which helped out bottom end but made starting awful the newer CR500 have about the same grunt more on top but not as much out of the hole power as an older one [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]
