How Fast? Also what is a good speedometer to get?

 

I would guess in the high 50's. Just a guess

 

I own a 98 fourtrax 300 4x4 and my guess would be the only way its going to hit 50mph is if its getting pulled by my truck.

I would say the top speed is around 45mph and it sounds like its screaming doing anything over 40mph.

The 300 fourtrax was designed to be a utility machine and working in the lower end of the scale is where it is most happy.

We use are to pull a bushhog mower and doing this its more comfortable than a tractor.

Down a hill it will go faster than an 98 model AC454 4x4 going down a hill. The AC hit the rev limiter at around 50mph and my little 300 had no problem passing it. I wouldn't try to get that much speed for a long period of time or evem very often because the motor sounds like its about to blow. I say 44-47mph flat ground and 50-54mph down a nice long hill.

 

my old 97 300 4x4 would go 83km/h which i believe is about 52mp/h.

 

According to my GPS, my '95 does 45mph on a level paved surface.

 

GPS'd my 89 300 2wd at 51 on flat pavement. It took every bit of a mile to creep it up to that number, and the slightest grade you could imagine would drop it back down to the mid 40's. The 4wd is slower keep in mind. My old 99 AC500 would walk off from it if both were allowed to get side by side full throttle (meaning the guy on the 500 taking it easy so the 300 can wind out alongside him).

On flat ground wound out, I'd say 48-50. Whoever said high 50's wasn't quite in tune with the alignment of the solar system.

it all depends on the age and how you broke that atv in your suposed to take it easy on them 4 about 20 hrs brand new but if u break it in like a ***** its not going to have as much power and overall top speed it also depends on if it a 2x4 or a 4x4 i have a 2x4 and my friend has a 4x4 mine is only a couple mph faster it aslo depends on the size tire the bigger the tire the higher top speed the lower the power the smaller the tire the more power the less over all speed.......right now my 94 honda trx 300 2x4 has tranny problem and only has 4 gears but does 45 mph it used to do 54 mph withh 5 gears so im gussing yours does about 55 mph

 

When i had a full supertrapp exhaust on mine tuned for low end (had none) mine would easily do 55. when i went back to stock exhaust and a 250sx carb (tried to get some low end-did NOT work) i can go about 50 now, but it's screamin.
