I want to add a high compression piston like 11:1 but still keep my stock bore and I can't seem to find anything higher than a 10.5:1 for a stock bore. Also I am looking to add cam which do you suggest for every day trail riding? Next I plan on putting Works shocks up front and for people who have them or have rood ex's with them are the Triple rates w/o rezzies that much better that duals? Thanks alot for any help.

With the cheap dime a dozen 440 kits why not just put one of those in there, and keep your stock components for if you have to revert it?

Those 440 kits aren't cheap. Once the 440 kit is on there is no REVERTING back. You will get a better response to this question and other 400ex questions at exriders.com.

Most people have been putting in the xr400 cam for riding. There is nothing wrong with the 10:5 piston. With that you can still reg gas and don't have to get race gas or mix 50/50.
If you are just going to be play riding the works shocks without the rezzies is a good buy. If you do plan on racing you will need the rezzies to cool the oil. the dual rate shocks are just as good as the thriple rates. They just don't like to make them, to many parts to keep in stock. I had a set of duals many years ago without rezzies for an R and they worked real good for play riding. Just have someone change the oil on the rear and set the sag and that should be all that you need.
