I have a 1994 300ex. this quad is mainly used as a loaner for the tag alongs that don't have there own bike. My wife rides it when shee wants to go and get muddy with the boys. The other day I noticed that when you pull the clutch in when the quad is in gear the wheels still have some resistance , like the clutch isn't pulling in all the way.I attempted to adjust the cable, but it didn't seem to help. Do I need a new clutch? Is there a different adjustment other then the cable? Obviously I am no clutch repair genious so any info or pointers would be appreciated.

every quad that i've riden puts a little bit of tension on the chain when it's in gear with the clutch in. its better to have that than have the clutch slipping when the lever is let out. my honda service manual recomends at least 3/8in. "free play" in the lever on my 400. i imagine the 300 wouldn't be any different.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered a haynes service manual and I am going to check everything out. The quad didn't used to be this way, thats why I think the clutch is going out. To many newbies beating on it. Before if it were parked in the garage and in gear and I wanted to move it I could just pull inthe clutch and easily push it a side. Now the back tires drag a bit. This is drastically different then my z400. Oh well, I 'll just have to dig into it. The 300 EX still has to be one of the most reliable quads on the planet!
