Just installed TraxLock on my 2002 Rubicon, special thanks to Dirty Howies for assistance

I just completed the installation of factory traxlock on my 2002 Rubicon. Parts are from the 2002 450S/ES model. I even installed the factory switch by the throttle. Special thanks goes out to Dirty Howies. He helped talk me through the key parts of the install. I have only riden it down the driveway(concrete) but expect to take it for a short ride Friday evening to see what she will do. I purchased the parts from Service Honda for about $250-260 total. Install time is under four hours and not very tough to complete. I'll post a ride report soon

Took the Rubicon with traxlock out for a 12 mile thrashing Friday night. This is the ATV that Honda should have built. It act as you would expect a 2WD ATV to act. It handles great and you can cut donuts, rooster tails, all that stuff. It is so much easier to steer alone that it is worth it for that alone. It reminds me of the fun I used to have on my 2000 FourTrax 300 2wd before I sold it but with a lot more power on tap. It was in 2WD 95% of the ride and I switched it out of 4wd at speeds up to 25mph.
Traxlock is contained in the differential but you need the driveshaft to go along with it. Pictures of the install are posted on on DirtyHowies website at www.dirtyhowies.com Also posted are the parts needed for the factory 2wd/4wd switch. The completed product looks just like a 2002 Foreman 450. The Honda part numbers for the differential and driveshaft are those from a 2002 Foreman 450. They are 41400HN0671 for the differential and 40400HN0670 for the driveshaft. See the link above for the list of part numbers needed for the factory Honda handlebar monted switch. if you have any other questions, let me know via a post. Text

yes those numbers will work on your ATV except for the drive shaft as Honda does not manufacture one for the older 450's that will bolt right in.
The number that you see for a drive shaft will only work for the Rubicons.
You will have to shorten your exsiting drive shaft about 3 inches and add a rubber snuber to the end of the drive shaft or you will have bearing damage to the switching unit itself.
